WASHINGTON, 10 June 2024 — World Bank ne Dasu Hydropower Project (DHP-I) ke liye $1 billion ka izafi finance approve kiya hai. Ye paisa hydropower supply ko barhane, local communities ke socio-economic services improve karne, aur WAPDA ki future projects ki tayari ki capacity barhane mein madad karega.
Pakistan mein World Bank ke Country Director Najy Benhassine ne kaha, “Dasu Hydropower Project aik game changer hai Pakistan ke energy sector ke liye. Ye project fossil fuels ka inhesaar kam karke, sasti aur environment-friendly energy faraham karega.”
Dasu Town, Upper Kohistan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province ke paas Indus River par ye run-of-river project ban raha hai. DHP-I ki capacity 2,160 MW hai aur ye har saal 12,225 GWh sasti renewable energy generate karega.
World Bank ke Task Team Leader Rikard Liden ne kaha, “Ye project Pakistan ko har saal $1.8 billion bacha sakta hai aur 5 million tons carbon dioxide offset karega. DHP-I ka annual economic return 28 percent estimated hai.”
Upper Kohistan mein socio-economic initiatives bhi mazid support hasil karenge, jese ke education, health, employment aur transport mein behtri. 2012 se, adult literacy mein 30 percent izafa, larkon ki schooling mein 16 percent aur larkiyon ki schooling mein 70 percent izafa hua hai. Community development activities, khaaskar women beneficiaries ke liye, jaise ke free healthcare clinics, trainings aur awareness programs bhi barqarar rahenge.
Pakistan aur World Bank ka sath 1950 se chal raha hai, aur World Bank ne ab tak $46 billion se zyada assistance provide ki hai. Abhi ke projects mein 55 projects aur $14.7 billion ki total commitment shamil hai.
