ISLAMABAD: United State ne Pakistan se poocha hai ke agar International Monetary Fund (IMF) ka program next week khatam hojaye, $1.2 billion ki third last loan tranche diye bagair to uske pas koi fallback option hai ya nahi.
According to Finance Ministry officials, Q Block mein ke gai meeting ke dauran Finance Minister Ishaq Dar se United States Ambassador Donald Blome ne yeh sawal uthaya.
Blome ka sawal tab aaya jab Dar ne Islamabad ke US diplomat ke samne Government efforts ke bare mein briefing di, Unhon ne kuch months se $6.5 billion bailout package ko dobara zinda karne ke liye kiya tha.
Ye meeting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ki Paris Climate Finance Summit kay silsile mein IMF ki Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva se milne se ek din pehle hui.
Dar ne Blome ko brief kiya jis mein progress ke baray me bataya kay current fiscal year ke first 11 months mein current account deficit ko $3 billion se kam kar diya tha. May 2023 ka month third consecutive month tha jisme country ne current account surplus hasil kiya, jis se official foreign exchange reserves ko unke current level pe retain rakha gaya.
Dar ne US ambassador ko budget mein fiscal consolidation ke bare mein bhi bataya kay Rs. 379 billion ki primary budget surplus dikhai gai hai.
Finance Minister ne kaha ke US ambassador ne Government ki policies aur programs mein confidence zahir kiya hai jo Economic sustainability aur public ki Socio- Economic taraqqi ke liye hain. Dono countries ke between bilateral Economic, Investment and Trade relations ko mazeed promote karne ke liye apni support zahir ki.
