Islamabad: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) ne Power Division se ikhtilaf ka izhar kiya hai ke IGCEP 2025–35 (Indicative Generation Capacity Expansion Plan) mein Uch-I aur Uch-II gas fields (Balochistan) ke capacity utilization factors ko “ghair moazzun tor par kam” dikhaya gaya hai.
OGDCL ke Managing Director Ahmed Hayat Lak ne yeh issue NEPRA Chairman ko likhe gaye ek khat mein uthaya hai, jis me unhon ne kaha ke Independent System and Market Operator of Pakistan (ISMO) ne IGCEP ke liye jo utilization factors submit kiye hain, woh field ki asal potential ko represent nahi karte.
Unke mutabiq, Uch gas field ek low-BTU gas field hai jahan se Uch-I aur Uch-II power plants ko gas supply hoti hai. Yeh gas sirf power generation ke liye suitable hai, isliye isay moassar tor par use karna national interest mein zaroori hai.
Lak ne kaha ke Uch field se ab tak 2.7 TCF gas produce ho chuki hai jabke ab bhi 2.6 TCF recoverable reserves baqi hain — jo aglay 25 saal tak production ke liye kafi hain. Unhon ne warning di ke agar IGCEP ke mutabiq gas production rate kam kar diya gaya to aquifer influx se gas recovery kam ho sakti hai, jisse national resource ka nuqsan hoga.
OGDCL ne apni study ke hawalay se bataya ke reservoir mein pani ka ratio barhta ja raha hai, khas tor par western lobe mein, aur agar gas production irregular hui to reservoir damage ka khatra barh jayega.
Company ne kaha ke woh compression facilities install kar rahi hai jo June 2026 tak mukammal ho jayengi, aur teen naye infill wells bhi drill kiye gaye hain taake gas recovery maximize ki ja sake.
OGDCL ke MD ne mutalba kiya ke IGCEP 2025 mein Uch-I aur Uch-II ke capacity allocation factors ko revised upward kiya jaye taake local gas resources ka behtareen istemal ho aur imported fuel par inhisar kam ho.
